Q2 Just wondered if any one knew if this is true. Plex is a well-known streaming media server that allows.
I reckon from what I have read, that the Pi is not really up to supplying the power for the USB HDD (not an SSD one) One of the most popular projects the Raspberry Pi is used for is turning it into a home media center. So Q 1.any one know a Go_to tutorial for setting up Plex ? I have 2 external hard drives (wd ultra 4tb) connected on my rasp pi connected on my gigabit router through a cat6 cable. but that is is.that would just be another layer of learning I don't have the inclination for. Raspi 4 2gb ram + rasp pi OS lite here (plex + samba ), not having a single problem with direct streaming (mibox/mibox s/ samsung tv/ nvidia shield) and a chromecast 3 (wifi). Not wanting to use have seen them mentioned a couple of tutorial. have seen plenty of online tutorials.but if any one knows of a particularly good easy to follow NON-YouTube tutorial, please do let me know. Not even got around to trying to setup Plex on the Pi yet, that is for another day. Used as Home Control server running HA_Bridge and HomeVision HVXL server for X-10 control That Pi is Pi4, running headless in the attic with VNC connection
I have been running a Plex server for many years now on my XigmaNAS server, but the Motherboard died the other day and wondered about using a Pi4 to do the Plex media server bit. Head over to and download the appropriate version of Plex Media Server.
